About

Just a heads up, I'm a really crazy, goofy person.

What's your name?

My name is Anđela (pronounced Angela), it's spelled with an accent because I'm Croatian.

What nationality are you?

I'm very proud to say that I'm Croatian- American.

Where are you from?

I am from Chicago but I currently live in Philadelphia.

Was it hard to move from Chicago to Philadelphia?

Of Course! But here's how it all went down.

Where are you interested in living?

Even though it was hard moving from Chicago to Philadelphia, granted that's actually a pretty small move, I was able to make new friends relatively quickly and I'd love to move again! I enjoy seeing new places and experiencing other cultures- when I finish College/University I'd love to live anywhere in Europe, Australia, Thailand, Canada, or just other cities in the U.S.

How did blogging become a hobby?

I always loved reading blogs and I was really intrigued with the idea of writing one myself so one day I just decided to create one about my everyday life. It's also a great way for me to share what I do everyday for my family and friends in Chicago and Croatia. My friends in Philly also support and encourage me to keep going!

Why did you name your blog "The Anxious Me"?

I named my blog "The Anxious Me" because I am a really anxious person and it shows in my personality. I do have anxiety problems, no joke! I also thought it was a cool title. Read more about my anxiety here and here.

Why is the Starfish your symbol?

I chose the starfish because I wanted something fun and different to identify with. I definitely would consider myself to be a preppy person but I didn't want to do an anchor since that was overdone. I asked my brothers for their opinions on deciding between the turtle or the starfish and the starfish won. Unfortunately I don't really have a deeper meaning for choosing it but now the starfish means a lot to me since I associate it with my blog. I love it because it's unique and not something you'd think of as a symbol!

What kind of camera do you use for your blog posts?

Up until December of 2014 I was only using my phone which is the HTC One X (I still do when I need to be more discreet.) Now I use a Canon Rebel T3i which I'll write a review for soon!

Update: I got an iphone 6 in February 2015 so that's what I use when I want to be discreet now.

How did you customize your blog?

It took me a whole day and half to figure it out! My older brother is a computer programer and while he doesn't know HTML and CSS that well, he's more into Java and he's learning C++, he knew enough to help me. Google was definitely my best friend and you can find pretty much anything you want to do online! To create my banner I used a combination of pixlr and photoshop and starting playing around with it.

What do you want to do when you "grow up"?

I want to become an Experimental Psychologist when I grow up. I love studying the behavior of people and I always ask myself why people act the way they do in certain situations. I think it would be so cool if one of the questions I was able to study was how deafness impacts social interaction with children and how that carries on to their future. What's the difference socially between deaf people who sign versus deaf people who use technology such as a cochlear implant or hearing aid? Is there any?

Are you deaf?

Yes I am! Read about it here.

Do you have any pets?

I used to have a parakeet named Birdy- I'll eventually write a blog post on that. I don't currently have any pets but I'd love to have a guinea pig and a dog, preferably a white morkie named Skipper. (You can tell I really thought this through..)

What are your interests or some fun facts?

I'm introverted (blogging is different since you don't generally see the people who are reading your content), I love to travel, bike, bake, ski, blog, do community service, babysit, write, have fun, smile, laugh (even at corny jokes!), and I have blue eyes. My favorite color is a bright orange and purple.

How can I contact you?
