13 Random Things You Need for College

Most of my friends have already left for college at this point, but I thought this would still be a fun post to write! I'm next in line as I (nervously) leave for school tomorrow!

Junior Prom Ideas

When I think of Junior Prom I think of sparkly, frilly, colorful, pretty, short dresses (the long ones are for senior prom ladies) and I've learned that that is not the case for some Junior Proms. While neither way is right or wrong, I've just decided to show you some typical outfits for a Junior Prom in Chicago and then some for Philadelphia.

Friend Days

Hello! Yesterday I went out with two of my friends which was incredibly fun!

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Hello.

Hi! My life has not been super exciting recently. It basically consists of me going to school, coming home, going to ACT class or Croatian School, doing homework, hanging out with friends, and a little bit of working out. (Riding my bike around town is my most favorite thing in the world. I love feeling the wind in my face and just figuring stuff out in my head.)

I'm writing this post while listening to some music on Pandora (The Script radio station is the best!!) I'm also wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt with my hair down and unclipped.

This morning I woke up really early for a day off (7:30!!) and had a lengthy conversation about Colleges/Universities with my mom. (We are visiting a school tomorrow!) I read my favorite blog for a while and had a friend over for a couple hours where we mostly just watched the Big Brother Season Finale and some YouTube videos, talked about life, ate some food, and walked around my house with blankets over our shoulders since we were cold and it was rainy out the whole day.

I also surfed the web and found the most gorgeous pair of shoes that I so badly want to buy. I found them on ASOS and I adore them! They're so different from what other people wear to school but at the same time it's not so out of the norm that I would feel uncomfortable. They definitely are very preppy/european. I was thinking I could wear them with frilly socks or bare for school, or with some tights (I have pink ones!) for a more formal event.

Aren't they the cutest things?! They remind me of the shoes I used to wear when I was little!

These socks are from ASOS but I also found some frilly socks from american apparel, (I like the white and black ones) but I couldn't put the image up for some reason. I think I would only wear frilly socks with outfits that contain shorts or skirts, I don't think they would look good with jeans or below the knee pants.

My tights (white, pink, black, and grey.) I think this black swishy dress and the white tights with those shoes would look amazing. I've been obsessing over collared shirts and dresses recently too but I don't own that many. I just want to just find a nice white collared shirt to put under sweaters and have the neckband peek out.

I haven't bought either the shoes or the dress but I'm seriously considering it. I will let you know if I do!

Room Tour

Hello again! I've had finals prep to do for the past two weeks, fun and exciting right? Anyway, I only have my English final left tomorrow and then I'm on summer vacation!!!

The reason for this particular blog post is kind of naughty. I needed a reason to clean up my room and this was it. Plus, my cousins in the midwest have never seen my room before and this is a great way to invite them inside. Let's start shall we!

Let's walk up the stairs to my bedroom.

Where you'll be greeted to a super cool picture the reminds me of a proper winter.

Now lets go to my bathroom.

Yes, I know it's not winter anymore and I still have peppermint body wash but it takes me forever to finish body washes off since I use a sponge and don't need that much to lather.

Now let's get into my bedroom.

Would you like to go inside?

My sheets are from Bed, Bath, and Beyond if you were wondering. I think they represent my personality completely because they're colorful and full of many different patterns- I feel like they're unique and different from what everybody else has.
(Maybe that's just me and everybody has the same sheets- how would I know?!)

College/University stuff oh joy! (See those papers behind the laundry basket? That's all the school work I now get to throw away and try to forget for the next 3 months!!!)

I'm still a Chicago girl don't worry, I've got my Chicago Cub bear there too!

Gotta show support for my team (Go Croatia!) By the way, who saw the opening game for the World Cup? Totally rigged. Croatia could've tied if it wasn't for the ref. The penalty should never have happened, Brazil's last goal shouldn't have counted since it was a total foul, and the goal Croatia scored was definitely not a foul on their goal keeper. I have very strong views about this.

Currently reading "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. I have so many good books that I plan on reading this summer!

Lastly my closet!

I hope you guys enjoyed a bit of a different blog post today and I hope you all have a super amazing summer!

Editor's Note:
I'll be turning in my school laptop back to my school tomorrow (I rent my laptop from my school every year) so I will be laptop-less over the summer. I will be blogging from my parents computer which I'm not really looking forward to but I'm taking what I can get until school starts again. I don't know what that will mean for my YouTube channel since my parents don't have a Mac computer. I could try and use Roxio (PC version of IMovie) but I don't know if I'll have the patience to learn. We'll see how badly I want to make videos. Hopefully I'll be able to. Time to clean this laptop off and say goodbye to another school year!

Locks of Love Foundation

So today I have a day off from school so it was the perfect day for me to get my hair cut. Yup, I cut it! This is my fourth time participating in the Locks of Love Foundation and I love how doing something so simple like cutting your hair can mean a lot to someone who may not have any.

My mom found out about the Locks of Love Foundation through the internet. I had really long hair and she wanted me to get it cut short since it was getting difficult to take care of. She found the organization as a way for me to want to cut my hair. She knew that I loved helping kids so naturally I said yes right away, since then i've continued to grow my hair and cut it!

As many of may or may not know i'm deaf and I had cochlear implant surgery when I was 5 years old. (Click here to read more about that.) I just remember wanting to help other little kids because I knew that there were worse things out there than being deaf. I also only spent a week in the hospital and I hated it! I couldn't imagine having to stay longer than that so it was nice to be able to do something for them. I also think there's something special about having a kid help out another kid- It sort of shows them that you've got their back and you're here for them.

Plus it only takes about a year and half for me to go from super short to really long hair so it's not really difficult to do.

Below are some before and after pictures- what do you think?!

*You only need to donate at least 10 inches so that Locks of Love can make your hair into a wig! I donated about 11 inches since my hair is has so many split ends on it and they probably couldn't use that part.

Sweaters

It's that time of year again when the leaves fall and you start to wear sweaters to school/work and all that good stuff. I thought that I would share some of my favorite sweaters. I love sweaters personally. I basically live in them throughout the fall and winter months. They are just so cozy and stylish at the same time.

In advance I would like to thank Jessica C. for generously giving me most of the sweaters I have shown here on this post.

I would also like to say that since I have been given these sweaters I do not know where you could buy them so use these as examples for some that you can maybe find or buy somewhere.

1. This sweater is gorgeous- it's the perfect cozy fuzzy sweater and perfect for the fall/winter months.

2. I love this sweater because it has stripes on it. I got this at target a few years ago and it's just a go to sweater that's comfortable.

3. I love this sweater! It's so bright and colorful and it adds a nice colorful touch to otherwise dark colors that you would normally see in the fall. I got this sweater from GAP.

4. This sweater is another great sweater for the winter and I love the color on this one since it looks flattering with my eye color (which is blue.)

5. I love how this sweater is sparkly and fun and has a bit of sheer on the back of it. It's not the warmest sweater and definitely more of a fashion statement but I still love it.

6. This is one of the most comfortable sweaters I own! It's oversized and I think that's why I love it so much. I love the way it falls on me and it just gives off a really relaxed look.

7. Another gorgeous sweater! I love the stripes and color. Again- it brightens things up a bit in the sea of brown and dark fall/winter colors.

8. I think the collar on this sweater is just so unique and just adds a bit of coolness to the sweater.

9. Another sweater I would wear to a fancier occasion, the sparkly collar totally umps up a look.

I hope you guys enjoyed the sweater post today! Let me know if you enjoyed it or if you have constructive criticism on how I should run my blog.

I am thinking about doing a mini guide on what to wear for the holidays once it comes a little closer so let me know if you would be interested in something like that.
